I have been teaching music privately for about ten years now and have gained lots of experience throughout the years. I have taught at several music stores in RI including the once existing Daddy’s Junky Music in Warwick, where I taught for the National Music Workshop. I have been teaching in Barrington since 2006. In 2010 I opened Frankie Ranks Guitar Zone when I decided to give it a go on my own. I teach over sixty students a week at my studio at all levels of experience. See my Private Lessons page for more details on my lesson program and policy. I look forward to helping you or your child develop some musical skills.
Let me give you a little background information about myself. I have been playing music since the age of ten with the saxophone being my first instrument. I picked up guitar at age twelve and went on to study music in college. I completed a Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Massachusetts – Lowell in 1998 while studying the guitar.
I have been performing music since 1996 when I joined the Rhode Island based band The Agents, touring the US for many years. I am still playing with The Agents to this day, and we now have three full length records under our belt. I have toured, recorded and performed with the Boston based reggae band Dub Station, which took me around the US, Canada and Jamaica. I have worked with such reggae artists as Frankie Paul, Abijah, Mikey Dread, Everton Blender, The Skatalites, Ernie Smith and Alton Ellis. I also recorded and played with the Rhode Island based reggae band Soulshot for seven years.
I have been featured on several recording projects over the years both on saxophone and guitar in all genres of music. I am currently playing in my own band called Frankie Ranks & The Freeloaders.
